“Connection is why we’re here; it is what gives purpose and meaning to our lives.”-Brene Brown
Chapter one Philosophy Statement
I am an educator, counselor, mentor, and advocate dedicated to helping young people and families grow academically, emotionally, and personally. My professional journey began in education, where I developed a passion for building meaningful relationships and creating supportive environments where students could thrive. Over the years, I have worked with diverse populations across K–12 education, coaching, counseling, and mentorship settings. These experiences have strengthened my belief that every individual deserves to feel valued, heard, and supported while pursuing their goals and discovering their purpose.
My transition from classroom teaching into counseling was driven by a desire to impact students beyond academics alone. While working in schools, I witnessed how factors such as mental health, school climate, socioeconomic challenges, identity, and access to resources directly influence student success. I became increasingly passionate about helping students navigate these challenges while developing confidence, resilience, emotional awareness, and self-belief. Through counseling and mentorship, I aim to support the whole person by helping individuals strengthen both their mindset and their future opportunities.
Throughout my career, I have remained committed to equity, cultural awareness, and advocacy. I believe growth happens when people are placed in environments that encourage belonging, accountability, discipline, and self-development. My experiences working with underserved communities, English learners, students with diverse learning needs, and adult learners have shaped my philosophy around inclusive support systems and relationship-centered leadership. I strive to create spaces where people feel empowered to express themselves, overcome adversity, and build confidence in who they are becoming.
Education and counseling have also taught me the importance of balance, reflection, and self-care. I believe personal growth requires intentional effort, consistency, and the willingness to continue learning. Whether through mentorship, counseling, public speaking, workshops, or community events, my goal is to inspire individuals to invest in themselves mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and professionally. I am passionate about promoting healthy lifestyles, emotional wellness, leadership development, and positive brotherhood among young men and families.
I earned a Master of Education in STEM Education and a Master of Science in Counseling from California State University, San Bernardino. My long-term mission is to continue building programs, initiatives, and spaces that empower people to heal, grow, and lead with purpose. Through education, counseling, mentorship, and community engagement, I hope to leave a lasting impact by helping others recognize their strengths, overcome barriers, and pursue meaningful lives grounded in character, resilience, and self-growth.
